WordPress. It’s a gift. The web design journey for me didn’t begin with WordPress, but way before it was ever conceived. Learning to design in HTML was fascinating, if not more than a little frustrating. In time I began to learn the benefits of the database-driven C.M.S. system. At that time it was Joomla!
Joomla! had its limitations as a design platform though, and when WordPress finally made itself known it was like a revelation.
Finally this system emerged where I would find satisfaction as a web designer. And it continues to improve, offering more creative opportunity as it goes. WordPress. Creative control. Gotta love it.
Creating.
I plan, design, build, customise and polish personal, promotional and commercial websites, and eCommerce solutions based on the WordPress platform. My craft lies comfortably between web designer and web developer.
Web designers are best described as creative experts. Our speciality is finding the perfect colour and making fonts choices, and creating, sourcing and optimising images which fit and describe the content.
Seamlessly integrating your company’s branding is essential, along with a seamless user-experience. I studied computer-based art & design, including layout, interface design and usability, navigation, colour theory, and much more, using a combination of Dreamweaver, Photoshop & Illustrator, Affinity Designer & Photo, and many other tools of trade.

On the technical side, I have capable problem-solving skills. I take the creative vision, design and implementation, and turn it into a complete working website.
Using a text editor, several browsers, an FTP client, a local testing server, and various developmental browser extensions, the working backbone of dynamic website is created.
Manipulating HTML, CSS, JavaScrpt and PHP and MySQL, the database which holds all your information, I ensure contact forms work, are secure, and send emails properly, as well as source, test and apply any other functionalities your website requires.
Domain Names and Hosting.
I can arrange suitable Hosting, research, organise and secure suitable Domain Names, and delegate your website URLs to the appropriate host.

The uptake from this, is that in most cases you will not need to hire two or more people to complete the job, and deal with the inherent complications of communicating duplicate ideas and instructions.

Am I suitable designer for you? Maybe.
Due to time constraints and the focus-combination necessary when responsible for all aspects of a website, my work is more suited to smaller, less developed businesses, with fewer products or services.
The best, most productive work is done when the mind is focused, or “in the zone”. It takes a certain amount of time to reach this state of mind, and only one question or distraction to break it.
So, then it will take a while to regather that focus and reach “the zone” and become properly productive again, therefore I will not take on jobs where there is an unrealistic deadline.
Websites, and in particular editing, take time; as much time as is needed to finish the job. No more, no less.
If I am not confident I can complete the project to your satisfaction I will be honest with you, I will not take the job.
Website Redesign.
A specialty is taking an existing website and renovating it. This may involve a simple re-write and tidy up of the text, or sourcing new photos, or photographing products/services. It may entail a total revamp – upgrading from old technology to the latest secure “self-administrated” web platform.

Learn how to administer WordPress and edit your own site so that in future you will be able to do it yourself, if you prefer. WordPress design is very empowering once you get a taste for it.
